As long as I can remember, I have had a strong attraction to athletic shoes. Now, please don’t take that literally. What I mean is, I love the comfort of athletic shoes, the sleek designs, and the fun colors.
I remember my first pair of Nikes, the white canvas court shoes with the light blue stripe that everyone else on my grade school basketball team had. When they started making the shoes with different colored stripes a few seasons later, I was thrilled to get a pair with red, my favorite color.
More recently, I have been enamored with the extremely bright colors, the endless color combinations, and the multiple styles and types of women’s athletic shoes that are now available. But with so many options out there these days, it can be very difficult to choose just the right shoe.
Women (and young women) are looking for the shoe that best meets their needs – they may want a shoe for a particular sport, one that is reliable, comfortable, in style, one that fits a wide or narrow foot, or comes in a size that is hard to find.
More and more, women are looking for athletic shoes for everyday wear. We want to be comfortable as we run to the grocery store or to pick up the kids from school.
I have had my own difficulties finding the best shoe for me, and so has my daughter. We have trouble fitting into certain brands, and it seems that size is not consistent from one brand to another.
After doing some online research, I came across a variety of websites that say they can help you find the athletic shoe that is right for you. But I noticed that it can be difficult to get all the information you need in one place.
Some sites talk only about running shoes. Others promote one brand over all others. Most don’t distinguish between men’s and women’s shoes. How can you make sense of it all?
Since I am a freelance writer by trade, I figured the best way to tackle this problem was to write about it. But I need your help to do it! I would like this site to be a community where women help each other by sharing knowledge and information.
I welcome your reviews, observations, and recommendations for shoes based on your own personal experiences. I want to share your stories about the best (or worst!) athletic shoes that you’ve had. My goal with this website is to offer all the relevant information about women’s athletic shoes in one convenient location so we can help each other find what we need.
Here you can read about the types, brands, and styles of athletic shoes that are available for women, things to consider when choosing shoes, how shoes for different sports are designed differently, and much more.
I am also looking for your inspiring, interesting, amazing, and amusing athletic shoe stories! To learn more about Stories From the Sole and to share your own, please visit this page.
This site is for women just like you and me. There will be no slant or hidden agenda to get you to buy a specific shoe – just straightforward information to help you make the choice that is best for you!
